The Chicago Sky pulled off one of WNBA’s biggest upsets and made league history on Wednesday as they beat No. 1 Sun, 79-69, becoming the first No. 6 seed to make it to the Finals since the format changed in 2016.
This marks the franchise’s second trip to the WNBA Finals in its 16-year history, Chicago finished 16-16 in the regular season and were the No. 6 seed in the WNBA Playoffs.
When Candace Parker made the decision to go home to Chicago last January, she sent Chicago Sky’s Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley a text message: “We’re right there and she wasn’t wrong
In her first year playing for her hometown team, Candace Parker led her #6 seed Chicago Sky team to the WNBA finals.

On Monday, Garrett revealed that he was drug tested following Sunday’s 14-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings. He blames it on being sleeveless during the game.
“I go sleeveless for one game and they hit me with a ‘you got a random drug test in the morning,'” Garrett tweeted.

But going back to Toronto when the won the title with Van Fleet & Lowry, they also had F Khawi Leonard, F Pascal Siakam, & F Serge Ibaka. These 3 players provided enough 2-way play (Scoring and defending) to overcome the height of their backcourt. Not underplaying at all the defensive stud, 2-way threat, & veteran leadership that G Kyle Lowry provided for that organization during that title claim. But Khawi lead the charge as top scorer and defender. Siakam played the wildcard X-Factor at 6’ 9 ht with a 7ft wingspan and Serge being the defensive guru he has been throughout his career. But Ibaka also has an emerging outside shot that allowed him to also take advantage of the attention Khawi was commanding.
Back to the building of the Cleveland Cavaliers and how that correlates, in the past two NBA drafts the Cleveland Front Office has Selected 19yr old 6 ‘5 225 lb defensive stud F/G Issac Okoro out of Auburn & the 7ft 215 F/C 2-way Superstar Evan Mobley out of USC. In between those two picks GM Koby Altman made a trade to acquire C Jarrett Allen from the Brooklyn Nets. These 3-players seem like the ideal fit to play alongside this “labeled” undersized Cavalier backcourt. Neither one of these players (Mobley, Allen, & Okoro) are not offensively polished yet. But with Jarrett being only 23, Mobley, & Okoro being only 20 I think they will have time to grow. I think they will progress tremendously, and having Colin & Darius there to lead the charge until they develop isn’t a bad ideal at all. The Cavs averaged 103 pts per game during the 20-21 NBA season which had them finishing last in the league. If The future frontcourt puts up at least 15 pts each a game, that’s 45 added points per game to pair with 42 points that was being provided by Garland and Sexton. 87 points points per game from your starting lineup is a good foundation base for a possibly 23 & under Starting Unit.
But Points aren’t the only stat that matters, especially when it comes to offense:
Health, availability is the best ability. Can Colin & Darius play a whole 82-game season? Can Mobley survive an 82-game season?
Rebounds, Jarrett Allen is a double digital board collector. Who will provide that extra rebounding security? How impactful will Mobley & Okoro be with the weak side rebound help? Can Colin & Darius win long rebound battles?
Assists, can Okoro, Mobley, and Allen average 4 or more assist per game?
Playmaking, How much did Sexton grow as a facilitator? Can Okoro consistently beat single defenders off the dribble? What will Mobley be like as a ball handler in game?
Paint points, Can the combination of Sexton, Allen, Mobley, & Okoro be enough to force defenses to collapse the paint? Can Darius consistently finish at the rim

Wallace broke down in tears after he’d returned to his parked No. 23 Toyota. The car number was picked for co-owner Jordan, who wore 23 in the NBA.
“This is for all the kids out there that want to have an opportunity and whatever they want to achieve, and be the best at what they want to do,” Wallace said as he choked back tears. “You’re going to go through a lot of (BS). But you always got to stick true to your path and not let the nonsense get to you.

I really HATE!!! the double, single elimination games in the WNBA playoff format This one and done playoff format needs to go.
Since the WNBA changed its playoff format in 2016, 9 of 10 teams seeded #1 or #2 have made the Finals. It’s crazy that teams like the Seattle Storm and Minnesota Lynx had to play single elimination games I watched The Lynxs overcome so much this season to get that 3 seed just to lose one game and get eliminated The WNBA needs to move on from this current playoff format immediately I would love to see a 3-5-5-5 format for next season. What are your thoughts?
