Off-season number 3 is about to kick off for this Browns regime lead by General Manager Andrew Berry & Head Coach Kevin Stefanski and their team effort has put together a very talented roster. Granted they have added to what was already in place, but the also retained what was in place and built the team around those players. However there are still a few areas of the team that they need to improve; The offensive passing attack, the Specials teams, & interior run defense. The passing game is priority number one. The core offense that this regime inherited has not panned out, specifically speaking on the WRs, QB, & TEs. QB Baker Mayfield has been 50/50 with his play over 4 seasons. WR Odell Beckham Jr, who is no longer with the Browns, after 3 seasons & a major injury was released to the LA Rams who are now the defending NFL champions. WR Jarvis Landry is in the verge of becoming a cap casualty after being for 4 off-seasons ago. TE David Njoku, who was drafted in the first rd 5 seasons ago along with Defensive Cornerstone Myles Garrett, is now a Free Agent.

The whole goal is to win a championship! Not only that, but to be a consistent title contender every year. In 2022, these Cleveland Browns are on their way to being that. I mean, This new Paul Andrew Stefanski regime is really making strides in that department. The core of this team is solid. The talent combinations they’ve compiled on offense and defense is nothing short extraordinary thus far. So allow me to skim through this Browns defense! Lead by Defensive Coordinator Joe Woods with players like DE Myles Garrett, CB Denzel Ward, LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, & S John Johnson III who highlight key core, contributors at every level. Ideally they would want another key contributor opposite each of those core players. So the Browns have S Grant Delpit, CBs Greedy Williams & Greg Newsome, LB Jacob Phillips, and (possibly the glue to the entire combination) DE Jadaveon Clowney to fill the role of “complimentary pieces”. Then the Browns have guys like CBs Troy Hill & AJ Greene, DTs Jordan Elliot & Tommy Togiai, LB Tony Fields II, & S Richard LeCounte who are quality rotation guys who all add quality depth, youth, & talent to a potential star-studded defensive unit. With the exception of Ward, Clowney & Williams everyone else is under contract for the next 3 seasons plus seasons. Also majority of these players are under age of 27, except Troy Hill & Jadaveon Clowney, and (most importantly to this article) everyone except DTs Togiai & Elliot are based on the outside of the defense. The middle of the defense are where the concerns lay. So I believe the Browns will make it a high priority to lock in Clowney, Ward & Williams for long term deals, while using the Draft & Free Agency to find the Nose Tackle & Middle Linebackers of the future. I think a guy like DT Taven Bryan would be a quality young guy to pursue via Free Agency. But a player like Georgia’s DT prospect Jordan Davis would be an ideal fit in the middle. One could argue with Garret and Clowney in the edges, the Browns only need “Block Eaters” at DT and could draft a LB like Georgia’s Nacobe Dean to sure up tackling at the linebacking position. With 15 out 22 possible available defense player roster spots filled, I would conclude the browns are in good position to add what they need. The browns have options, just as long as they resign Clowney & Ward most importantly. Now let’s turn our attention to the offense! This is where things get tricky & unpredictable. Unlike the Browns defense where, outside of Ward Garrett & Greedy, this regime is responsible for acquiring most of its talent, this browns offensive core was mostly inherited. Players like RB Nick Chubb, QB Baker Mayfield, TE David Njoku, Guards Joe Bitonio & Wyatt Tellar, Center JC Tretter were all left over from the Hue Jackson/John Dorsey era. TEs Austin Hooper & Harrison Bryant, RBs Kareem Hunt, & Demetria Felton, WR Donovan Peoples-Jones & Anthony Schwartz, Tackles Jedrick Wills Jack Conklin & James Hudson III are all players drafted or acquired by this Regime.

After the Browns met with Deshaun Watson on Tuesday, quarterback Baker Mayfield tweeted a letter to Cleveland fans.

(1) SIGN A DEFENSIVE FACILITATOR AT PG. preferably young veteran ( Kris Dunn). A player who can create off the dribble, can play solid defense, not require a ton of minutes, and is a bridge between Garland & Rondo. Rondo will need to be preserved for clutch moments in the playoffs. But also the Cavs need a long term solution in that role. Maybe this could be the chance for Kris Dunn. (2) SIGN DEFENSIVE CENTER WITH MOBILITY & STRENGTH. Preferably a young veteran ( Willie Cauley-Stein). A player is needed that will allow Coach JB to sit Allen & Mobley at the same time without giving up defensive security in the paint. Also will allow Coach to use them more on the offensive end without overworking the two. The playoffs will be very physical and this young talented front court will need someone other than Kevin love that can give Tower City some relief. I think WCS is a player who can fill that role. (3) LEARNING HOW TO WIN GAMES MOSTLY FROM A HALF COURT SETS. The Cavs only have 4 players who can consistently create off the dribble (Darius, Caris, Sexton, & Rondo). However they have about 8 players who can score consistently off play design ( Garland, Mobley, Levert, Markkanen, Osman, Love, Okoro & Sexton). Learning how to win in the NBA boils down to playing to your Stars strengths while forcing mismatches on both ends of the floor, offense & Defense. Luckily for the Cavaliers they have excellent 1 on 1 defenders that are not their primary scorers, per say. The issue is manufacturing points when fast-break points are not at an abundance. So creating plays that allow Mobley, Love, Lauri, & Allen to be more pass first from the post, High & Low, will be critical. Their garnered attention should allow their wingmen to get more easy baskets driving & cutting. The Cavs already pass the ball well but have become disciplined and confident enough to take only high quality open shots, all the time. (4) TAKING ADVANTAGE OF MID-RANGE JUMPSHOTS. The Cavs are a threat from 3pt range, as a team, and are known for getting easy buckets around the rim. So teams will be trying to figure out ways to keep that from happening. Caris & Darius do a good job of getting quality mid-range jumpers off the dribble. Mobley & Love do a job of making 2ptrs from isolation post. Lauri Markkanen will help a lot when he returns. His size and skill set will add a much needed dimension to the Cavalier offense. 7ft sharpshooter athletic enough to drive off him the dribble, cut effectively and play above the rim. And Cedi Osman can really do it all to suitable degree. But he is more effective as a scorer off the bench. With that being said, players like Okoro & Stevens need to become threat from the mid range area to help keep defenses honest. With no Colin Sexton until next year, these two being able to hit mid range jumpers will help every on both sides of the ball.

The Super Bowl has been played & finalized. Which means the 2021-2022 NFL season has come to its inevitable conclusion. Pretty great game actually. In this game we seen what could happen when you take a Franchise/ Hall of Fame type QB off a bad team, away from a terrible situation and put him in a winning culture surrounding with the right complimentary talent. Speaking on Matthew Stafford, who was the winning QB in his first year with the Rams. What happens when play your talent to there strengths vs playing them to the play-callers liking, referencing examples Larry Ogunjobi & Odell Beckham. And also what happens when your Franchise QB has a Quality Wide Receiving threats. This includes Burrow, Chase, & Higgins as well as Stafford & Kupp. And what happens is not only does a team give themselves a chance to get to the Championship game, but a very good chance at winning it. And I can not underplay the value of having a dominant run stopping Defensive Tackle wreaking havoc in the middle of a defense, Ala Aaron Donald. But even with the Los Angelos Rams defeating the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 to claim the title, what does any of this have to do with Cleveland Browns? Well there are so many parallels it’s crazy, but I just want to focus on some of things that should have Browns/ Dawg Pound fans redirecting their frustrations! First and foremost, as a Clevelander born and raised in Cuyahoga county. A place that spend the first 29 years of my life, I can confirm that there is a tolerated, & encouraged bias towards people who look a certain way. Most of the “High Profile” & “High Cost Game-Changing” Talent that fans would love for the franchise to acquire, they look like me. Cleveland is a place of very minimal and limited attractions. Most of Cleveland’s history is scarred with chaos, prejudice, and a heavy level of violence. So knowing that, which is few of the many more things I could point out, why would you believe any player that “fits the description” of this “Certain way of looking” would want to reside, let alone, raise his own children in a place like that? The Browns have Mr Berry in charge now, who is entering his 3rd consecutive off-season as the leader & the Cavaliers have Mr Altman has been running the show in Cleveland since 2017. Two Black Men when given the chance have turned two totally abysmal franchises into respectable entities with high performance expectations! But even considering the growth of each franchise, they aren’t all the way to the mountain top yet. Im stating these things, allow me to tie it into the point. Every sports franchise’s grant office, coaching staff, local media, fanbase, and home cities quality of living play a big part in why a player would or wouldn’t want to play for your team. I often ask people, “if anybody gave you $100 million dollars to live anywhere you wanted, would you chose Cleveland, Ohio?” That alone says everything! Fans shouldn’t be mad at Odell, fans shouldn’t be mad at Baker. Fans should just understand that things don’t always work out and that’s ok. But most importantly take heed to what I mentioned at the start of this particular article. If the Browns add these things; a Franchise QB, Game-Changing Wide Receiver threats, a Dominant Run stopping defense Tackle and the ability to implement a philosophy that plays to all of the personnel strengths and not just select few, to what they already have then this new Regime could be in a position to take this Browns franchise to quite a few Super Bowl appearances and Wins.

So I have to start off by saying, “Clap it up for President of Basketball Operations Mr Koby Altman”. He identified a need and he filled it. Caris Levert is 6’7 27 year old ball handling Wingman, who can score and create for others off the dribble. Essentially a taller version of Colin Sexton, who is injured for the season (per say). The big questions surrounding this Cavalier acquisition are (1) Does this mean the end of Colin in Cleveland? (2) if the Cavs intend to keep both Colin & Caris, Can they Coexist? (3) Do the Cavaliers have the cap flexibility to resign both players long term? (4) How does this trade impact the the rest of the roster? (5) Specifically guys like Dylan Windler, Dean Wade, Lamar Stevens, & Brandon Goodwin? I am going to try to theorize what will happen with this Cavaliers roster moving and long term while answering these questions. Let’s begin with the fact that initially Cleveland only had 2 ball handlers a part of their young core, that was Colin Sexton & Darius Garland. Adding Ricky Rubio was just an opportunistic luxury that just so happened to work out beautifully for this organization. But he was never a long term solution in that role. By Darius & Colin being an undersized backcourt, ideally one would want to add an athletic tall Guard rotating with those two. Caris Levert provides that. Here with this Coach JB Bickerstaff lead Cavaliers team, everyone has a role. Caris isn’t really the guy you want as your number one option. I think he is a more effective 3rd or 4th option type of player. Asking him to be the lead Guard for the Bench unit, I believe is ideal. No need for him to start for he still has to learn the system, playbook, and scheme/philosophy. But bringing him off the bench with Kevin Love, Cedi Osman & Rajon Rondo should help him adjust to the team just fine. Sprinkling in players like Lamar, and Dylan Windler, and Dean will help him do what he does best, while allowing these other players to shine a little more. Levert will be especially good for the playoff run. By that time he should been have played about 20 or more games with his new ball club and really settled into his role quite nicely. So this isn’t the end for Colin in Cleveland. I will keep saying this, this whole roster is built around Colin Sexton. He is the foundation of the build. His whole playing style, attitude, and locker room influence is what has enabled this young Cavs team to really gel quite nicely. The cavaliers will have Kevin Love and Cedi Osman contracts coming off the books at the end of the 22-23 season. Which will be about $40mil in salary cap space regained. It also is the same off-season in which will look to get resigned. Technically Sexton, Garland & Levert can all sign Contract extension this upcoming off-season with only Colin’s being activated next season. So imo GM Koby could look to resign all three at that time. With Lauri, Allen, & Mobley lock in for the next 3-4 seasons I could see each Guard getting anywhere between $17-$22mil apiece. Knowing that Cavs owner Dan Gilbert is willing to pay luxury tax for a winning team, the Cavs own the bird rights to their entire roster (allowing them to go over the cap to resign their own drafted players. By trading for Lauri, Allen, & Levert the Cavs retain their bird rights), and the salary is going to increase a whole lot by the off-season of 23’ I can confidently guess the Cavs could give Colin, Darius, & Caris $100mil apiece and it would not effect the rest of the roster. They could give Issac Okoro $15-$20mil when his contract is up in 24’. Mobley will be available in 25’ which is the same year Lauri will come off the books. By that time the salary cap could be anywhere from $220mil-$270mil, possibly not including the luxury tax window which would give the Cavs another $20-$40mil dollar window. Money isn’t the issue with this team. It is about paying the right players. So can Levert and Sexton coexist? Absolutely. One will lead the bench unit, both will play starter minutes. When one scorer goes to the bench, Coach JB can immediately replace him with the next one. Allowing these two to do what they do best will allow the offensive games of Okoro, Mobley, And Windler to mature naturally. Caris and Colin will help take pressure off one another. And with Garland, I wouldn’t argue this being a championship caliber trio rotation of Guards to lead your team. This trade also tells me that the Cavs want to win now and continue winning for the next several seasons. In all fairness, then GM Koby Altman has been saying this since last season and now we are witnessing it come to life. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Cavs made another trade, specifically for a defensive Center. Going into this playoff run the Cavs will see Mobley grow on the offensive end. In order to preserve him from the abusive and physical nature of the playoffs I could see the Cavaliers willing to trade A future 1st round pick & Dean Wade for the right piece. I would personally love to see the Cavs acquire Marvin Bagley. But that would be doing too much. The Cavs need a guy who doesn’t need a lot of minutes but is still very impactful. The Cavs also have a few trade and injury exceptions they could probably trade and obtain a nice vet for that role. I’m not Oppose to Tristan Thompson coming back. I think he would be ideal in that role and a good mentor to the young guys. But I would think Altman is looking for a potentially longer solution. And if the Cavs really want to ensure they contend for a title this year. They might add another Veteran Point Guard that is a little younger than Rondo. Most likely he would be on an expiring deal. But argue Kevin Pangos and Brandon Goodwin would be enough for this season.

There is no mystery that this current Cleveland Cavaliers’ roster has a foundation for potential long term success! However they are extremely young at core. But the team is more conditioned than given credit for. The Cavaliers’ Front Office Lead by President of Basketball Operations Koby Altman have an the right mix of talent, role players & basketball pedigree to really contend in this final stretch of the season. Quality championship veterans off the bench (Rondo, Love, Osman), 3rd & 4th year players who have played multiple seasons together under the same leadership (Sexton, Garland, Windler), undrafted utility players who provide quality contributions when called upon (Stevens, Wade, Goodwin), young talented trade acquisitions in Allen & Markkanen, and uber athletic potential two-way superstars with Mobley & Okoro. Not having Colin Sexton for the rest of this season really hurts, but the team has performed very well nonetheless with a current 31-19 record. With 32 games left in the regular season, days left until the trade deadline, and a few weeks away from hosting NBA All-Star Weekend this Cleveland Cavalier franchise is in a position to make a game changing acquisition that could potentially cause a league affecting power shift in the NBA. Especially the Eastern Conference! The Cavs have a $17 million dollar expiring contract with PG Ricky Rubio, that comes with side kicker $8.9 million injury exception because Rubio is out for the season. The Cavs also have a $4.1 million dollar trade exception they acquired from the Denver Nuggets in a trade that involved, Now Phoenix Sun, C Javale McGee. They also are rumored to be willing to surrender this 2022 1st rd pick in hopes of sweetening the pot to acquired a quality scoring Guard. Ideally this guy would could start or come the bench, but more importantly his tenure doesn’t affect playing time for Yung Bull (Colin Sexton) when he returns next season. So here are a few names I think the Cavs could acquire with their current capital! Warriors G Jordan Poole, TimberWolves Wingman (SG/SF) Malik Beasley, Kings G Buddy Hield, Pacers G/F Caris Levert, Rockets G Eric Gordon, Wizards G Spencer Dinwiddie, Trailblazers G Anfernee Simons, Nets Rookie G Cam Thomas, & Magic G/F Terrence Ross. Right now the Cavaliers should be be able to acquire a legit scoring SG without messing up the chemistry of the team. Sadly, Cedi Osman or Dylan Windler could be added as trade incentive to obtain the right player fit. More to come from InDaStreetzSportz.

Well the season didn’t go as planned. A lot things that could go against this Cleveland Browns franchise, did. And to put the cherry on top of the season. The Cleveland local sports media has convince the sports world that there is big tension between Baker Mayfield & Kevin Stefanski! I mean we already have to deal with the “Underachiever” Label. Why would the Browns lead beat-writers deliberately bring unwanted and unnecessary negative attention to a Franchise looking to establish itself as a top tier contender year in & out emerging from historic basement dwellers. I mean, all the positive things that came from this season! The Cleveland Browns have a top 10 defense. Legitimately, and proven. Very young and should only get better. Especially as new needed complimentary pieces are added to this solid core and foundational pieces are retained. The Cleveland Browns have a front office that has proven thus far they can answer the call when it is required to acquire the necessary talent to get better. Whether it has been draft, Free agency, or trade this Browns roster has gotten better over the last two off-seasons. Top tier offensive line and Running back room. So what it missing? A potent passing game. That’s it. After years of turmoil, as a Diehard Browns fan and Dawg Pound Representative I can say with joy in my heart. If that’s the only thing keeping us from a super bowl birth, that is a very satisfying improvement. I don’t hate Baker Mayfield, i don’t even dislike him. But I will not anoint a player who hasn’t improved in the one area that is most vital to the Position he plays, Coverage recognition. So do the Browns have a Quarterback controversy? They shouldn’t, and I don’t think they will. I believe Baker will get his 5th to prove what he is worth. I believe this front office lead By Mr Andrew Berry will acquire Quality WRs to pair with dominant offensive blocking and running attack. And if Baker Mayfield doesn’t clearly show the ability to outthink an NFL defense, The Browns will move forward with somebody else. And worst case scenario, Baker is here an additional season on a Franchise tag and the Browns Draft a Bryce Young or CJ Stroud when they become available after that particular season.

We all know the saying, you have to crawl before you walk! Now granted, this Cleveland Browns franchise has been crawling for quite a few decades now. But these past few years are different times my friend! I say that with a smile. Through all the noise and internal uncertainties, this Cleveland Browns franchise literally controls their own destiny. They stand at 7-6 with 4 games remaining in The regular season, 2 of which are against Pittsburg (6-6-1) & Cincinnati (7-6) to close things out. They Browns have an emerging top 10 defense, and an offense that has all of the components to contend with any opposing offensive high power attack. The Browns could very conceivably win every remaining game left on the schedule. So I will ask Cleveland Browns fans, is this not the team we asked for? A competent team that has talent and can compete with any franchise all the time? A young core who is still evolving? A coaching staff and front office that works well together to put a quality product onto the field? Cleveland Browns Fans is this not the team we have been crying about possessing? As the saying goes, you have to crawl before you walk. So we Browns fans should be very happy about our current position. The team still has a few things they need to workout, but for the most part things are looking better than they have been. So let us focus more on the positives!

Expectations are the gateway to this year’s disappointment. Such high hopes for the Browns and they are only a .500 team. 6-6 and I will argue that the only genuine losses were to the Cardinals and Patriots. In the other 4 Cleveland literally beat themselves! 2 things stand out to me, the defense is progressing and the offense is regressing. Who is to blame? At first I blamed the HC. He is the man in charge. But as I further dissect the problems, I conclude it’s a combination of Sophomore slumps, and ugly realizations. 2 yr front office, coaching staff, coaching philosophy, culture implementation, & the ugly realizations that your preseason top offense passing and Receiving talents do not mess well nor fit the style of football, it seems, this Browns regime wants to play. Luckily going into this upcoming off-season the Browns will have the opportunity, cap space, and draft position to really right the ship, to their liking, in that area. Guys like Baker, & Jarvis, Could see their replacements being drafted in 2022. Clowney will probably get extended and Harrison jr might be made free to explore free agency. A guy like Malik Jackson could be let go and Takk McKinley could be retained. I know for sure if the browns miss the playoffs, the QB next year will probably be different!

I personally think the name is cursed. Call me superstitious or whatever. But if you know the history of how this football franchise acquired it’s label, and how that ties into Art Modell then you know I have a valid case for this claim. Ok but anyway, when it comes to the on field play of this Cleveland Browns team, they are very predictable. Also this team is under aggressive. Especially playing in the AFC north division. I feel like the defense should be the catalyst for this team. This defense should be Uber aggressive with attacking the backfield of every opposing offense. Myles is the featured disruptor, while Jadaveon plays clean up opposite side him. I’ve suggesting using a 3-DT Front that will free up Garrett & Clowney more. Moving them throughout the front 7 will keep opposing offensive linemen guessing and should cause a lot more confusion. They have the defensive Secondary to accommodate adequately. As far as the offense goes, I just flat out feel like Kevin Stefanski should give up the play calling. He should be involved in the play calls on all three levels (Offense, Defense, & Special Teams) not not focusing in on one. Especially when the complimentary part of the team is out of sync. I believe if these things were to happen, this Browns team would be performing a lot better on a game to game basis.

For a lot Browns’ fans this feels like signs for the “reoccurring of old”. QB uncertainty, Play call and system scheme underwhelming, & most importantly frustrated Stars. Cleveland has spent a lot of money upgrading this roster over the past two off-seasons. Which are also the rookie, & sophomore years of this new regime. This regime has preached creating competition at every position. And they have done that. Bring in impact players, they have done that as well. So, as I’ve been saying for a while now, it is on the coaches. But I do not believe the sky is falling. I believe this is the process. I mean The Cleveland Browns have been a dysfunctionally ran Franchise for decades. Now finally they have a solid core of ownership, Front Office savvy, and very talented personnel assembly. The Head Coach is still on his learning stages. After winning COTY in his rookie season, I’m confident he will be here awhile. I think Offensive Coordinator Alex Van Pelt will be here as well too. To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if the entire coaching staff stays intact. They are all young and promising, everybody needs a little time to adjust to a new position. A lot of times it is better to just encourage and allow things to play out.

The Cleveland Browns had their tails whipped real good by the Patriots in New England yesterday. It was ugly! 45-7 ugly. But why? I don’t blame Baker Mayfield for this lost. What I will say is that, it may be time for a fresh start. I believe the moment Baker chose to not get surgery and sit out the season, was the moment he chose not to be the long-term Solution at QB for the Browns. And in my opinion, that’s ok. I believe Baker is a capable QB in the NFL. I don’t believe this HC wants to put his coaching career on the line for someone he didn’t hand pick. Should he draft one? Should he try for Desean Watson? What does this mean for Jarvis & Hooper? I think Coach Stefanski is still only a 2nd year Head Coach. So there will be growing pains. But I think after not being able to make it work with Odell, and after all the outside noise that has negatively impacted the Browns’ culture this season. I think it is definitely time for the Browns to turn the page on Baker Mayfield & focus on finding their true long-term solution behind Center.

Amazing how things seem to look like they are falling apart with this Cleveland Browns organization! Or is that just what the national media wants to portray? Nobody gets tired of the same ole villains huh! What will happen with Odell Beckham jr after his Follow blasted his QB to the social media masses? How will Baker respond to all this reckless slander on his football talent & abilities or lack there of? How will the head coach respond film being published that blatantly shows plays not design for Odell? This can literally get bad in a hurry, if the Browns lose to the Cincinnati Bengals This upcoming Sunday afternoon to kick off the first Sunday of November? Me personally, I think even when the browns move on from OBJ, that they might conclude baker comes with too much baggage as well. The back blow Baker will receive the first time he doesn’t play well after OBJ departure will be outrageous. If the Browns do anything less than a Super Bowl, Baker’s contract situation is in jeopardy. So I conclude Baker gets traded in the off-season. The browns have solid foundation. Baker, Jarvis, & Odell aren’t this regimes hand picks. Going into a 3rd year, with the GM & HC jobs most likely locked up for years to come, I think they will go out and get their top QB & WR. Probably through the draft. But I think they have a chance at landing Watson and if I were Mr Berry that would be my #1 option. Baker & picks to Texans for Watson and use the draft to draft him a top WR weapon to pair with Peoples-Jones & Anthony Schwartz. They could retain Higgins or package him with Baker in the mentioned deal! Either way, this isn’t your same ole Browns. This front office have opportunities to turn bad into incredible and may only have to surrender an extra draft pick or 2.
